Privacy Policy for Automation Doctor
Automation Doctor is a local-first companion app for diagnosing and safely repairing Home Assistant automations. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Information stored on your device
When you connect a Home Assistant server, the app stores connection metadata and, when you choose to save a connection, its authorization credentials in device-protected storage. On iOS, credentials are stored in the device Keychain. The app may also store cached Home Assistant configuration, diagnostic findings, redacted traces, repair proposals, backups, change history, and app preferences on your device.
This information is used only to provide the app's diagnostic, repair, history, and restore features. Automation Doctor does not operate a server that receives your Home Assistant credentials, configuration, entity names, automation traces, or repair history.
Connections to Home Assistant
The app connects directly from your device to the Home Assistant URL you provide. It sends requests needed to authenticate, read the data you ask it to analyze, and—only after your explicit confirmations—apply a supported repair or rollback. The terms and privacy practices of your Home Assistant installation and any services it uses also apply to those connections.
Advertising and consent
Free versions of the app may show banner ads through Google AdMob. Before requesting ads where required, the app presents Google's consent flow and respects the resulting choice. The app does not use your Home Assistant configuration, credentials, entity names, traces, or repair history for advertising or ad targeting.
Google Mobile Ads may process information such as IP address, device identifiers, advertising data, app interaction data, diagnostics, and performance data to deliver and measure advertising. Google describes its data practices in its Mobile Ads SDK App Store disclosure. You can review or change applicable advertising privacy choices through the consent options shown by the app.
Purchases
The optional Remove Ads purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles payment information. The app receives StoreKit product and entitlement information needed to determine whether banner ads should be removed. Automation Doctor does not receive or store your payment-card details.
Sharing and disclosure
Automation Doctor does not sell Home Assistant data. It does not automatically upload diagnostic information. If you choose to create and share a diagnostic export, you control its destination; exports are designed to redact server URLs, credentials, names, and raw evidence, but you should review an export before sharing it.
Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you remove it. In Settings, choose Delete all local Home Assistant data to remove saved credentials, cached configuration, traces, findings, proposals, backups, and history from that device. You can also delete the app. App Store purchases are managed by Apple and can be restored through the app's Restore purchases action.
Children
Automation Doctor is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a support request, contact us so that we can address the request.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app's practices change. The effective date above will be updated when we do. For privacy questions or requests, use the Automation Doctor Support page. Do not include Home Assistant credentials, tokens, or private configuration in a support request.
