Trail Tel Support

Trail Tel is an offline-first outdoor toolkit from Comet Software Development. It combines route recording, saved waypoints, backtrack guidance, field notes, environmental tools, emergency references, and Apple Watch features.

Get help

Report a bug or ask a product question through the Trail Tel support tracker. Include the Trail Tel version, iOS version, device model, and a short description of what happened.

Please do not post precise locations, GPX files, private field notes, photographs, purchase receipts, or other sensitive information in a public support request.

Location and route recording

Trail Tel needs location permission to show your position, save waypoints, provide bearing and distance guidance, and record breadcrumb routes. Background location permission lets an active route continue recording while the screen is off. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

Maps and offline use

Core trip records and field tools are stored on your device. Apple Maps and OpenFreeMap layers require a network connection unless the relevant map area has already been saved for offline use. Download availability and map detail can vary by region.

Apple Watch

Keep the iPhone and Apple Watch nearby with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled when first opening the Watch app. If current trip information does not appear, open Trail Tel on the iPhone, then reopen Trail Tel on the Watch.

Trail Tel Pro

Trail Tel Pro — Lifetime is a one-time, non-consumable App Store purchase. To restore it after reinstalling the app or changing devices, use the restore-purchases action in Trail Tel while signed in to the Apple Account that made the purchase.

Safety

Trail Tel provides estimates and educational field references, not emergency response, medical advice, professional navigation, or a guarantee of safety. Use appropriate training and equipment, follow local guidance, and contact emergency services when someone is in danger.

Privacy

Read the Trail Tel Privacy Policy for details about on-device information, optional map services, permissions, sharing, and purchases.
